Dr. Michael Sikora is an internationally recognized expert on the Chinese automotive industry. Over the past twelve years, Dr. Sikora, his partners - together with the abc team in Shanghai - have implemented 46 automotive projects in the Greater China Area for German, Austrian and British Tier-1/2 suppliers, national automotive umbrella organizations (ZDK, ÖAMTC, ARC Europe) and Chinese OEM. He has been offering advice and support production companies from DACH region on market entry and market growth as well as has been responsible for the implementation in China and Vietnam.
His work and insights has been published in over 50 publications in Chinese, German, Austria trade magazines and daily newspapers. He had shared his China experience as conference speaker and prepared market and technology studies for Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO Vienna, Shanghai and Burgenland). 2010 he was invited to become China correspondent for an automotive publishing house (A&W AUTO&Wirtschaft, Eurotax) to report about the emerging independent Chinese automotive industry. As a graduate of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration he has been elected by a jury as "WU Alumni Entrepreneur" of 2012. Since 2007 Dr. Sikora has been driving electric and hybrid cars of leading Chinesise brands (e.g. BYD, SAIC, JAC, Chery, Zoyte, Geely-Kandi und Hawtai).
Before founding Automotive Business Consulting (HK) Limited 2005 in Hong Kong, Mr. Sikora was three years until 2003 Managing Director of VRB Vienna Region Beteiligungsgesellschaft GesmbH. This joint venture between the two Austrian federal states´business agencies - Lower Austria (Ecoplus) and Vienna (WWFF) - is in charge of location development and business settlement and operates today under the new name "Vienna Region Wirtschaft.Raum.Entwicklung.GmbH. He was responsible for organization and management of ACVR Automotive Cluster Vienna Region.
In the ninties until 2001, Dr. Sikora worked as Internet consultant, practice leader und business development manager in the IT and telecommunication industry. In 1999 Hewlett Packard Consulting hired him as Business Development Manager for telematics and mobility solutions. A year later he has successfully sold HPC 1st mobile fleet management solution to Austrian Mobilkom and LKW Walter. He then was responsible for HP´s Mobile e-Commerce sale HP in the ISE region (Eastern Europe, Israel and South Africa). Prior his time at HP Consulting he built from scratch a competitive business for Ericsson Consulting in Vienna and was has lead a team of 12 internet programmers and consultants.
During his PhD-research in the eighties at Vienna University of Commerce and Business Adminstration and as academic fellow of University of Cologne/Germany, he acquired cutting-edge internet programming skills. During this time, he could also secure an intern (stagaire) at the European Commission, Directorate General for SME policy in Brussels/Belgium.
In 1997, he founded an Internet company and worked for clients such as IV Austrian Federation of Industrialists, EIC Euro Info Centre, Semperit and the Austrian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Labour (EU-Project: "EU-Infobroker") to design and program web-based online SQL databases.
In 1993 he graduated with a Master degree in Commerce ("Handelswissenschaften") and business informatics. After his graduation, Bank Austria Creditanstalt, controlling department, hired him for the design of an EIS Executive Information System.
During his studies, Mr. Sikora worked as parttimer for IBM Management Service Seminare, Austrian Academy of Certified Public Accountant and the Ueberreuter Seminar Academy teaching EXCEL-based balance sheet analyses, cost accounting and controlling. Between 1982 and 1986 he could use his previously acquired knowledge of mechanical engineering at HTL-Schellinggasse in Vienna to install CAD-workstations and organised user trainings of telecommunication solutions for architects and civil engineers.
He gained technical experience as as young mechanical engineer during a number of summer interns at voestalpine AG, Pörner Engineering und Rexroth Engineering.
Michael Sikora has been living in Shanghai for over 12 years. He grew up speaking several languages and is able to communicate with friends and business partner in Chinese (HSK III) English, French and German.
